At the summer 2024 meeting of the german energy service and efficiency association vedec in Berlin, three outstanding projects were honoured with the Contracting Award. This renowned award is only presented every two years by vedec and the professional journal Energie & Management.
Our customer ENGIE Germany received the Contracting Award 2024 for the energy-saving BOO (Build-own-operate, in German called Contracting) measurements implemented at the legendary Hotel Panorama in Oberhof, Thuringia. Since taking over the hotel in 2018, Ahorn Hotels & Resorts has had the building renovated and commissioned ENGIE to optimise its energy efficiency. In addition to extensive measures in ventilation, cooling and lighting technology, the heating centre with gas boiler and combined heat and power unit (CHP) was renewed.
The cogeneration unit is a SOKRATHERM GG 140 compact CHP unit, which was completely overhauled before receiving the award and has impressively demonstrated its longevity: since its commissioning in 2010, it has already generated heat and power for over 110,000 hours. It was used for the operation of the Panorama Hotel, which had originally been built in the GDR era. The project was, among other aspects, honoured for its long-term energy concept.
