In Berlin’s Treptow-Köpenick district, the BUWOG 52° Nord residential area at the Dahme River has been under construction since 2015 and will be finished in 2027. The buildings are built according to the stringent KfW 40 efficiency house standard. Sustainability was also a top priority in the energy supply for the more than 600 flats, provided by Techem Energy Contracting: Instead of individual heating systems, all buildings are supplied via a district heating network from an energy center. This plant achieves a primary energy factor of zero through highly efficient technology and the use of the renewable fuel biomethane.
The technology has evolved alongside the residential area: Following the completion of the first construction phases, we commissioned the first GG 100 compact module in late 2016 and the second a year later. Equipped with condensing heat exchangers, the combined heat and power (CHP) plant achieves an outstanding annual efficiency of 97%, measured by the operator Techem. The third CHP compact module of the plant, type GG 132, started operation at the end of 2020.
