SOKRATHERM presents innovative solutions
for green heat and power generation at E-world 2024

For over a year an intelligent solution with a containerized CHP unit and an air/water heat pump supplies our head office and a district heating network in Hiddenhausen economically and sustainably with heat and power.

At this year’s E-world Energy & Water Fair, from February 20th to 22nd, 2024, in Essen, Germany, we will showcase our solutions for sustainable heat and power supply in Hall 2 (Booth E105). The core elements of our offerings include combined heat and power generation (CHP) units and heat pumps (HP), intelligently combined and controlled to efficiently and cost-effectively provide renewable heat and electricity to local heating networks, public buildings, hotels, and various other properties.

Our in-house-developed plant control system precisely selects the CHP or HP based on when they can leverage their respective strengths. The CHP unit primarily operates during very low outside temperatures when renewable electricity is scarce and costly. On the other hand, the HP is predominantly in use during milder air temperatures and high electricity generation from renewable sources. Thanks to the CHP electricity revenue and the avoidance of electricity-intensive HP operation during extremely cold outside temperatures, we can economically, reliably, and environmentally friendly supply heat and electricity.

SOKRATHERM cogeneration units can already be operated with up to 40 % hydrogen and, after refitting, with 100 % hydrogen. Our CHP units fueled by biomethane, biogas or sewage gas already generate renewable power and heat.

From our portfolio of over 2,000 CHP units, ranging in output from 50 to 1,000 kW, delivered worldwide, we are showcasing the GG 50 VR compact CHP unit at this exhibition. It produces 50 kW of electricity at nominal output and up to 101 kW of heat with a condensing heat exchanger. This CHP unit type has been continuously manufactured and improved since the 1990s. In addition to its traditional use in heat and power generation in a heating center, it has been employed in various special configurations. These include serving as a mobile CHP unit for supplying two locations, for air conditioning with an absorption chiller, for emergency power supply, or even fully pre-installed in a container. Notable applications include the Durrant House hotel in England, the BTC shopping mall in Slovenia, and the „CHP of the month for August 2023,“ providing local heating supply through CHP+HP at our headquarters in Hiddenhausen, Germany.
