On Hannover Messe 2014, SOKRATHERM presented the newly developed compact CHP unit GG 530 for the first time on a fair. This CHP type is available in series since early 2014 and is due to its small dimensions the world’s most compact CHP unit of the 500 kW class.
Other than conventional CHP units of this power class whose delivery in separate parts requires laborious mounting on site, this compact CHP unit is delivered after a testbench run as a complete unit in a sound absorbing case with integrated switchgear cabinet. Therefore it can be installed at the customer site and commissioned within a few days.
Its electric efficiency of 40% is on the level of large modern power plants. Since it utilizes the heat which is blown away in condensation power plants via cooling towers, the CHP unit’s total efficiency rises to 89%. Compared to the conventional power generation in central condensation power plants and heat production in boilers, decentral CHP units can reduce the primary energy consumption by up to 30% and CO2 emissions by up to 60%.
One of the over 1200 projects worldwide with SOKRATHERM CHP units in the power range 50 to 500 kW is the energy bunker in Hamburg, in which a Bio-Methane powered compact CHP unit GG 530 supplies the surrounding quarter with heat and power.
With the web-based iPC CHP control system developed by SOKRATHERM, an online insight to all relevant operation data via desktop, notebook or smartphone is possible anytime. Moreover, SOKRATHERM CHP units can be remote controlled by the operator and integrated into virtual power plants with a standardised interface.
