From the „CHP unit of the month“ project reports of the Energie & Management newspaper, a jury of the German cogeneration association B.KWK elects the CHP unit of the year. In 2009 the project in the Maritim Berghotel Braunlage in which a compact CHP unit GG 140 has been installed was awarded CHP unit of the year.
„This year’s winner-CHP has scored with its economic sizing with nearly 100 % power consumption on site, its exemplary contracting concept and the expected multiplicator effect on potential CHP sites which also want to modernize or plan new“ the B.KWK director Adi Golbach founded the jury’s decision. Further criteria were creativity, energetic benchmarks, integration and -last but not least- the ecology.
„The specific CO2 emissions per Kilowatt-hour power are with 230 g/kWh 37 % lower than those of a modern gas power plant without heat utilization“ stated Dr. Jan Mühlstein of the Energie & Management newspaper. This is achieved with 35 % of electric and 91 % total efficiency of the plant. Further information can be found in the (German) project report by Energie & Management.
