The development of the mobile CHP the CHP on wheels is a good example for the practical and economic application of cogeneration power plants. It can work for various objects, e.g. administration buildings, local installations or swimming pools. This maximum utilisation of a CHP makes it very efficient.

The gas and water supply company in Hiddenhausen, GWH (Gas- und Wasserver-sorgung Hiddenhausen GmbH) shows how versatile a mobile CHP can be. During the summer, the GWH company install the CHP unit in an outbuilding at the outdoor swimming pool in Hiddenhausen.
There, the compact unit is connected to the existing pipes and electric supply system. Transport and connection takes about one hour, then the mobile CHP is ready for operation. When the swimming pool closes in the winter, they take the CHP back to the GWH building and install it there for electricity and heat supply over the winter months. The mobile CHP's power size is specially designed to provide the basic heat demand (basic load) of both places. Peak loads of heat are supplied by conventional boilers.
Because of the excellent burning characteristics, CHP modules powered by natural gas save up to 40% of primary energy and 60% of CO2 compared to separate electricity and heat production. Installing a mobile CHP is therefore a smart idea, not only from an economic, but also from an ecologic point of view. |
